The Camargue region in France is renowned for its stunning landscapes and unique wildlife, with one of its most striking features being the beautiful White Horses that roam freely across the marshes. For photographers looking to capture these majestic creatures in all their glory, a photography workshop dedicated to the Camargue White Horses is an unmissable opportunity.

Here is the detailed itinerary

NOTE: This Workshop is May 2026, next year

Day 1 Thursday 28th May, 2026

Arrive at Montpellier airport by mid-afternoon for transfer to your hotel in the medieval town of Aigues-Mortes. Late afternoon we will gather for a welcome drink and briefing meeting.

Day 2 Friday 29th May

We head to a local ranch to photograph a variety of trained horses of different breeds and colours. This is an indoor shoot, using both lighting and natural daylight, so you can capture intense portraits of these beautiful horses, against a ‘moody’ backdrop. In the afternoon, we photograph the Camargue wild white horses in their natural habitat in the marsh. We shoot several drives with the horses running across and towards your field of view. We also capture the horses, beautifully backlit, as they run through the woods. After the action, we take close-up portraits of the horses.

Day 3 Saturday 30th May

At sunrise we have another session with the Camargue wild white horses, running together through the lakes and marsh. We will also take portraits of the ‘Gardians’ (Camargue Cowboys) dressed in their traditional Camargue attire, trident in hand, surrounded by the herd. In the afternoon, we photograph the sparring stallions which is a unique opportunity to witness the Camargue wild white horses entwined at full height, in feisty temperament, with their manes flying.

Day 4 Sunday 31st May

At sunrise, we head to the beach for the ultimate spectacle of the Camargue white horses running along the golden sand and in the sea. We also capture the horses in a peaceful lagoon with stunning reflections, at sunrise.

In the afternoon we go to a beautiful lagoon to photograph the Camargue white horses in shallow water, providing striking minimalist images.

Day 5 Monday 1st June

We head to a different beach for a shoot with a beautiful black trained Andalusian stallion who loves the sea! We photograph him running along the beach and frolicking in the sea and surf, making for a wide range of dramatic action shots.

Late afternoon, we return to the beach to photograph the horses at the lagoon, then running along the golden sand and in the sea as the sun sets in the surf spray!

Day 6 Tuesday 2nd June

For the final shoot, we capture a beautiful white trained Camargue stallion rearing on the top of the sand dunes, and running along the beach and in the sea, making for striking action shots. Afternoon departures to Montpellier airport.

Workshop includes single occupancy lodging, breakfast, all photoshoots airport transfers, ground transportation, a group image review, assistance and education from the host and guide. We will dine as a group for those who wish to participate. Does not include airfare, lunches, dinners.
